On a beautiful winter’s day the Afikim students in Ramot Jerusalem were blessed with a visit from the Yeshiva of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School Chessed Mission led by Rabbi Besser and Rabbi Levy.
The mission, now in its eleventh year brings a bus load of high school students to Israel for a week of non stop chessed. Afikim was honored to be included in their itinerary and the event proved to be a resounding success.
On Sunday Afternoon, about 50 students from Yeshiva of Flatbush arrived in Ramot with spirits high. Within minutes of meeting the Afikim children they were singing, dancing, joking and playing as if they had known each other all their lives. The arts and crafts activity that was planned, preparing mezuzot, became marginal to the personal interaction that took place.
The Afikim children were thrilled by the attention and were completely surprised to find out that their new friends had also brought them gifts of backpacks and toys all the way from America.
All of us at Afikim look forward to future visits from Yeshiva of Flatbush.
